List of Documents for the appointment of a P&I Insurance

The following is the list of documents that need to be submitted for an appointment with the Shipping Agent in Belize:

  1. Official Letter addressed to IMMARBE
  2. Description of the organization
  3. Description of year in the market
  4. Description of the number of vessels (and particular) insured and her flag states
  5. The Statement or approved letter by other maritime administrations to act on her behalf
  6. Affiliated companies abroad
  7. Adequate documentation on the company’s financial standing and hence solvency. Adequate documentation could be in in the form of audited financial statements from the past three years duly authenticated and signed by the auditor.
  8. Adequate documentation on reinsurance coverage on claims met by the company for liability incurred under the Bunkers Convention
  9. A guarantee by the company and its parent company, if one exists, that it will cover liability incurred under the Bunkers Convention (Article VII of the International Convention of Civil Liability for Bunker Oil Pollution Damage, 2001), Nairobi Convention (Article 12 of the Nairobi International Convention on Removal of Wreck, 2007) and CLC (Article VII of the International Convention on Civil Liability for Oil Pollution Damage, 1992) on limitation of liability for maritime claims
  10. A statement to the effect that liability incurred under the Bunkers Convention, Nairobi Convention, and CLC Convention due to an act of terrorism is covered; and
  11. The rating that the insurance company and/or its reinsurers hold by an independent and internationally recognized rating agency

Any interested party meeting the above criteria can apply directly to the International Merchant Marine Registry of Belize (IMMARBE) and submit the documents via email to Registration Department at registrationservices@immarbe.com.
